Middleton, WI – (September, 3 2014) – In response to a challenge issued by Greg Leeds, CEO of Wizards of the Coast, ACD Distribution President Bob Maher led staff in accepting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Maher, some senior members of management, and the entire ACD Distribution Sales staff took part in the effort, dousing each other in ice water. In addition, ACD Distribution made a donation to The ALS Association.The popular fundraiser by The ALS Association is designed to raise awareness of Lou Gehrig's Disease, as well as fund the association’s work in research, education, and services. The association has already received over $100 million in donations through the Ice Bucket Challenge. In a typical year, the annual budget of The ALS Association is about $25 million.In a video posted online, Maher addressed the challenge from Greg Leeds and invited others to join the cause."We're here today," Maher said, "because we've been issued a challenge by Greg Leeds of Wizards of the Coast, and we're not one to refuse a challenge. We'll go ahead and extend this challenge to any of our retailers who are so inclined. Indianapolis, IN – (August 28, 2014) – For the 47th Gen Con, ACD Distribution was in attendance, bringing over a dozen representatives to the event to meet with professionals in the industry and keep on top of current trends. According to Gen Con LLC senior marketing manager Jake Theis, this was the biggest Gen Con yet. "Since 2009, Gen Con has doubled in size, and it has grown by more than 10% per year for the past four years. In 2014 Gen Con's attendance base grew by more than 14%!"Theis took care to note the growth in the annual Trade Day as well. "Attendance at the Wednesday event grew by nearly 20% and included more seminars and workshops than ever before." Geared towards educators, librarians, and retailers, Trade Day was a great opportunity for professional development and networking, and ACD Distribution had experienced staff available to field questions from attendees.For the third year, ACD Distribution joined with Wizards of the Coast in sponsoring a retailer lounge. Just off the exhibit floor, the retailer lounge has become an oasis of sorts, with retailers able to enjoy food and drink, meet with other professionals, or just take a moment to relax away from the crowds. As always, Wizards of the Coast representative were on hand as well, ready to discuss Organized Play and more. Theis noted that the retailer lounge "was a bustling affair" and ACD Distribution Sales Manager Darrell Wyatt agreed. "The lounge was popular last year," said Wyatt, "and this year there were definitely even more people in attendance.""This was a really exciting show for ACD Distribution," said Director of Communications Adrian Sullivan. "Next year, Gen Con begins in July for the first time ever, and we're excited to be coming back to Indianapolis for another great opportunity to connect with our partners in game publishing and retail alike."In 2015, Gen Con returns to Indianapolis on July 30th through August 2nd.
